Aside from attending an event and service at church, I spent most of my weekend on my back resting due to a bad cold. I read about 300 pages of Gyles Brandreth’s Philip and Elizabeth. It was a good read overall though I could have done without a few of the Royal tidbits. What I found was touching from what I have read so far was about the Queen’s Coronation.
Baron Martin Charteris (one of the Queen’s courtier) said to the author of the book, “People will have their own memories of the Coronation – of the pageantry, the processions, the Queen of Tonga in her open carriage, the street parties and what have you — but for the Queen herself, the coronation was not about celebration, it was about dedication. It was a religious event.”
I was thrilled to find colored images of Queen Elizbaeth II’s coronation gown. Click here to read about this unbelievable needle and thread creation!
This week marks the Jubilee celebration trip for the Queen in Australia. I will no doubt be following her trip with great interest! I am always curious to see the hats the Queen wears to her official engagements.
I am still recovering from my cold – so, I will be a bit slow this week. Happy Monday, everyone!
